Understanding the Basics of EDI

New call-to-action

What are transaction codes?

EDI transaction sets (also known as EDI transaction codes) are the shortcuts used by electronic data interchange (EDI) users to ease the process of data transactions. These were designed to be standardized and independent of companies' communications or the software technology that sends and receives the EDI data.

EDI transaction codes correspond to information in business documents, such as purchase orders, acknowledgments, and invoices. Companies and trading partners exchange these documents using EDI standards to automate and streamline processes and reporting.
